Box Topper

Sometmes vintage patchwork is too fragile to use for things that will be laundered. Crazy quilt pieces made of silk usually fall in this category, so I will keep them for display or turn them into a wee topper for a box.

With this piece I repaired some embroidery, added a little of my own, and then tacked down the shattering patches with some seed beads. I added the dragonfly brooch for some extra sparkle.

I'm using this box as a holder for my hand dyed silk embroidery threads, but it would make a beautiful container for a special gift, too.
