My Favorite Part

I put together the summer art quilt last night with low-loft batting and some scrap muslin for the backing. This takes me to my favorite part of making any quilt (the quilting) so I'm very happy working on it. Since it's already a heavy piece, and I'm not planning to do intricate hand quilting, I'm using size 8 perle cotton embroidery thread to stitch it all together.

I've never quilted anything with moire satin, so I was a bit nervous about that, but I'm not having any problem with snags or pushing the needle through the fabric. So far, so good.
