Fabric Play

I'm starting a smaller crazy quilting project, which I've been posting some pics of on Twitter, but I thought I'd blog about my process here. The first step for me is to figure out the colors and fabrics I want to use. For this one I'm going with various shades of purple and gold, and silks and velvets. I place everything together on my sewing table to see if what I've chosen is cohesive (and that pink lace piece at the bottom right corner isn't going to work.)

I have some eco-dyed silks I've been saving for the right project, like this one. I can see a rose in the pattern on this piece. I love hand-dyed fabrics because the randomness of the dye inspires me, especially with how I design my embroidery.

Stay tuned to see what I make of these pretty things.
