These Dreams Do Go On

I'm having odd (and sometimes very entertaining) dreams again. There was one just after my last doctor's visit where I finally began to lose the weight I need to, but with unforeseen consequences. The flatter my tummy became, the larger my navel grew, until it exposed my insides. I discovered I was made out of delicious chocolate cake.

My guy didn't want anyone to attack and eat me, so he tried to cover up my too-big navel with a bandaid. Even in the dream I laughed, it was so ridiculous.

In another dream I ended up back in downtown Miami, which had changed quite a bit since I worked there. I was lost, of course. I walked through crowded restaurants and shops as I tried to use my phone to find a map that showed me how to get home. Only I couldn't get the phone to do what I wanted -- it showed me everything but what I needed. Just like real life! Ha.

The people I met in the dream were friendly, although not particularly helpful. One older Cuban gentleman and his friend admired my long red hair (so I was twenty-something again, apparently.) Then I decided to go back to my car, but couldn't find that. Being lost in the city was mildly distressing, and I was happy when I woke up to be done with it.

A third dream had me visiting a female family member who frequently bullied me when I was a child. I was surprised to see her living in a run-down trailer on a pig farm; she's always been house proud and lived in gated communities. She abruptly left me there, and as I waited in her home I noticed there were expensive shoes everywhere; so many it was obvious that's all she spent her money on. I felt sorry for her, but I finally left. That dream left me feeling at peace, strangely enough.

Stuff

After finding this Caron one pound skein of lovely peach yarn in my thrifted lot I raided my stash for two cakes of Mandala in Pegasus, which matches it perfectly. For practice and hand therapy I'm going to make another Worth Street Afghan with this free pattern , but this time I'll use the yarn that was recommended for it plus the one pound skein. I'm not quite ready to do the vintage/recycled linen quilt I had planned (still a bit too nervous about the idea), so I'm going to use some color therapy and make a quilt from these thrifted green fat quarters. I considered doing another Yellow Brick road patchwork pattern, but I might go with a split rail fence like this one.

Better than Fried

I cut some chives from the kitchen garden to make garlic-chive baked fries for dinner. This is a great side dish for veggie burgers. Click here for the recipe from Taste of Home.com.

In the Kitchen Garden

Our strawberries are taking over the kitchen garden, but I don't mind. This week I want to make some strawberry banana nice cream (a vegan version of ice cream) and maybe a chocolate cake with berries and cream for the topping. There's thyme in the garden now, too, which I'll dry and jar for cooking along with the chives and the oregano. Next we'll plant cucumbers, as I use a ton of those in our salads and for snacks.
