Wild November

What didn't I sew in November? Ha. If you recall last month I gave myself a challenge to make as many projects as I could from my Fabscrap stash. And then I went to town, starting with these flannel throw pillows made from flannel sample swatches.

Gift bag from a scrap of striped shirting material that I used for feather stitch practice.

Embroidered winter art quilt.

Swatch journal.

I've never tried to match any variety of Dresden quilt, so I used scraps to play with some ideas I have.

The challenge of learning to piece a new-to-me traditional design was easier, I think, because I wasn't using expensive fabric.

I will definitely be making a Dresden fan or plate quilt now.

I didn't restrict myself to working on the challenge, either. One practical project was making this cover for the bird cage out of some black broadcloth I saved from an event way back in 2014.

I also made slip covers for my home office chair from a 1980's VIP bamboo print.

I crocheted two pairs of slipper socks, too.

Tweaking the pattern for the first pair I made allowed me to make the socks I wanted that fit my feet the way I liked.

Turning a single jeans leg into a project bag was a technical challenge.

The most fun I had (in a nerve-racking way) was repairing the big hole in this Fabscrap Mendable sample flannel shirt with a graphic knit from their white scrap pack.
