Here We Go

Real time Rayen here. This week I'm starting on my summer art quilt project, which I'm making out of pink-only fabric. Here's a rough idea of my design.

A disclaimer upfront: there are some small amounts of other colors or white backgrounds in some ofthe fabrics, and a couple have more of a salmon pink tone, which looks a bit orange. But everything I use is predominantly pink.

I wrote this poem for the quilt, and I'm having it printed on fabric (and yes, I know I made a punctuation mistake. Of course I didn't notice until after I placed the printing order! Ha.) It will take about a week to get here, but in the meantime I'm going to be cutting, piecing and otherwise figuring out the design idea. Stay tuned to the blog to follow my progress.

As we head into December, here are ten ideas for easy handmade gifts: Cookie Exchange: If you live close to your friends invite them over for a cookie exchange. Basically everyone bakes a set amount of their favorite cookies, and these are exchanged at the gathering by lottery, sharing a little from each batch with everyone, or however you want to do it. Fasten Your Seatbelt

Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds is an epic, dazzling film that hurls you into the Korean version of the afterlife while showcasing some of the most impressive special effects I've ever seen in any movie. The story begins with the death of firefighter Kim Ja-Hong (Cha Tae-hyun) who jumps out of a burning building with a child in his arms. The kid lives, but he dies at the scene.
