Fabric Bundle Haul

While browsing at a Goodwill I'd never before visited I spotted two bundles of sewing fabric that looked like new. They seemed to be mostly novelty prints, but I've been looking for fabric with which I could practice my piecing, and they would be perfect for that. This is the smaller of the pair, and it contained 2 yards of a cotton knit on the outside. I figured the other fabric was all quilting cotton prints and bought it.

Turns out I was right. There were 7-1/2 yards of 5 quilting cotton prints, all in pristine condition with no odor.

That includes three yards of a pretty Susan Winget sunflower print and a yard of one of her bird florals; the former is enough to make a lovely quilt backing (if you want to pay $14.99 a yard for it new) and I paid $5.99 for the entire bundle, which works out to about sixty-three cents a yard.

The larger of the two bundles had a lot more to it, and felt heavier as well. It appeared to be all quilting cotton prints, so I bought that one, too.

I got 16 different prints in this bundle, all also in pristine condition with no odor, totalling 11-1/2 yards for $5.99. Among them are two Susan Winget prints, a Riley Blake print and a Michael Miller print, all quilt shop fabric quality. Anyway, the price works out to fifty-two cents a yard for this bundle. Or, if you add the yardage of the two bundles together, 21 yards of fabric for $11.98, or fifty-seven cents a yard.

I now have all the practice fabric I could want. The fact that all this was thrifted just makes it so much lovelier. :)

Better than Fried

Stuff

After finding this Caron one pound skein of lovely peach yarn in my thrifted lot I raided my stash for two cakes of Mandala in Pegasus, which matches it perfectly. For practice and hand therapy I'm going to make another Worth Street Afghan with this free pattern , but this time I'll use the yarn that was recommended for it plus the one pound skein. I'm not quite ready to do the vintage/recycled linen quilt I had planned (still a bit too nervous about the idea), so I'm going to use some color therapy and make a quilt from these thrifted green fat quarters. I considered doing another Yellow Brick road patchwork pattern, but I might go with a split rail fence like this one.

Fasten Your Seatbelt

Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds is an epic, dazzling film that hurls you into the Korean version of the afterlife while showcasing some of the most impressive special effects I've ever seen in any movie.
