Tomorrow is the first day of fall, so it's time to say good-bye to summer. As always, I will miss you.
I love summer because it was always the only time of true freedom for me as a young kid. School closed for months. I could spend all day away from the house, riding my bike around town, reading for hours at the library, or playing at the park with my friends. I didn't have to deal with my family much at all; I wasn't required to do anything but come home before dark.
I haven't felt the change in the air yet, but that will come soon. So will sweater weather and all the pre-holiday reminders that Thanksgiving and Christmas are on the way. Things will be quiet again this year, with just me and my guy celebrating. We'll still have fun.
